The establishment of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel provides work for 3,000+ people for 8.5 years
The Storstrøms bridge connects Falster with Zealand and is an important part of the railway corridor between Copenhagen and Germany
Construction is one of the large sectors in Lolland-Falster. With an investment of more than 80 billion DKK in the Fehmarn Belt tunnel, the significance and impact of this sector is understated.
There are three projects in particular that attract construction companies to Lolland-Falster: the Fehmarn Belt tunnel, the new Storstrøm bridge and the offshore wind farm, Kriegers Flak.
In addition, there are modern harbours and upgraded railway and road systems, boosting the region’s infrastructure, this placing Lolland-Falster as a strategic corridor in northern Europe.
Over the next ten years, more than 80bn DKK will be invested in construction projects, which will make Lolland-Falster a growth driver within this sector.
Construction of the new Storstrøm bridge is ongoing and will replace the current, antiquated link between Zealand and Falster.
The bridge will accommodate vehicles and high-speed trains, running from Copenhagen through Køge, Ringsted, Rødby and into Germany via the upcoming Fehmarn tunnel.
At four km long, the Storstrøm bridge will become the third longest bridge in Denmark, after Storebælt and Øresund bridges.
