The establishment of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel provides work for 3,000+ people for 8.5 years
The Storstrøms bridge connects Falster with Zealand and is an important part of the railway corridor between Copenhagen and Germany
There are three projects in particular that attract construction companies to Lolland-Falster: the Fehmarn Belt Link, a new Storstrøm bridge and the offshore wind farm, Kriegers Flak.
In addition, there are modern harbours, new rail links and roads, which boost the region’s existing strengths in the area and places Lolland-Falster as a strategic central location in Northern European infrastructure.
Over the next 10 years, more than 80 billion DKK will be invested in construction projects, which will make Lolland-Falster a growth driver within the construction.
The new Storstrøm bridge is expected to be build from 2016-2021 and will replace the existing, antiquated link between Zealand and Falster.
The bridge will be build for both vehicles and high-speed trains. Along with the Fehmarn Belt tunnel and the upgrade of the railway between Ringsted and Rødby, the new bridge over Storstrøm will play a key role in the link with Germany.
At 4 km, the Storstrøm bridge will become the third longest in Denmark after the Storebælt and Øresund bridges.
