Tourism Growth: Watch the Vision for Lolland’s South Coast

<< Back to NEWS

Tourism in Lolland continues to strengthen. Since 2019, the municipality has experienced an 18% increase in overnight stays, highlighting rising visitor demand and new potential for hospitality investment and accommodation development.

This momentum is reflected in the vision for Lolland’s South Coast, presented in a new video. The destination is anchored in the western foreland landscape, created through approximately 300 hectares of new land formed from seabed material excavated as part of the Femern Tunnel project. Located around 3 km west of Rødbyhavn harbour, the area is designed to combine nature protection with scalable tourism and hospitality opportunities.

The vision points to significant long-term impact, with potential to generate up to 1.66 million additional overnight stays annually and support as many as 6,000 new jobs, while enhancing biodiversity through ecological restoration, lagoon landscapes, and new recreational corridors.
