Nykøbing Waterfront Development
Guldborgsund Municipality has developed a comprehensive plan to transform Nykøbing’s waterfront into a fully integrated harbor area, complete with a brand-new district, recreational facilities, and space for businesses.
The goal is to create a space where both citizens and businesses can thrive and grow while respecting nature and culture.
WHY NYKØBING
The city is the largest in Lolland-Falster and encompasses a range of businesses, schools, vocational schools, a regional hospital, and many other facilities.
It is a city experiencing growth in both demographics and business offerings due to its proximity to surrounding cities and recreational opportunities.
AN ABUNDANCE OF POTENTIAL
The development of the city’s waterfront will connect neighborhoods and businesses in the northern and southern parts of the strait.
The municipality is already in the process of planning to establish a cultural powerhouse at the harbor, with a new cultural center, three new urban spaces, and a swimming area. In total, an investment of 100 million DKK will be made to realize the masterplan.
